Why does my dog yelp when I touch his head, even if he seems normal?

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua | Male | neutered | 5.4 lbs

Hi my dogs acting normal hes eating and going out for walks running but yelps when someone touches his head he yelped when being picked up but that's stopped now but not his head

Thanks for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach! I’m sorry to hear Chester isn’t feeling well. It sounds like he could be in pain in his neck or maybe his ears. I recommend taking him to his vet to locate the area where he reacts to pain so they can get him some medications to relieve it. Please do not give any over the counter medications as they aren’t safe for dogs and could effect the treatment the doctor prescribes. In the meantime, I would let Chester relax (no running, jumping, or playing) so he doesn’t cause more pain. Good luck and kisses to Chester!
