What's this rash on my dog's inner back leg near the hip crease?

Pet's info: Dog | Labrador Retriever | Male | neutered | 1 year and 5 months old | 81 lbs

Buddy has some sort of rash or something on the inside of his back leg, at the crease of his hip. It looks similar to when he was bitten by black flies over the summer. I know that’s not what it is though.

Oh I see what you mean! This could be from an allergic reaction or a skin infection. Without seeing Buddy in person, I can't say for certain what is going on. I'd have him seen by a vet in the morning to have this diagnosed and treated.

Poor Buddy! Rashes can occur due to many reasons that often include allergeries, mites or fleas. Definitely make sure Buddy cannot lick or scratch at the rash by having him wear an elizabethan collar at all times. A mild rash may respond to treatment at home. Wash the rash every day with hand soap and rinse it well. Once it’s dry, you can rub in a dab of coconut oil once daily. If the rash is more severe or if it’s not getting better after a few days, Buddy may need to see his veterinarian for medications. Hi, my 10 month old weim/ staffy cross has developed a slightly red bumpy rash on inside of legs can only see it at certain angle she is otherwise fine. She has been jumping in mud the last few days.
A picture of the rashes would be essential to give you a specific advice as depending how severe the rashes are and what they look like there are several differentials, including cutaneous and renal glomerular vasculopathy. Generally speaking I can say that this is probably due to an allergy, although it could also be infection or mites. First of all, in order to rule out skin parasites, you will need to treat with a high quality flea treatment, then ask the vet to perform a skin scrape - this might reveal an infection or a mite infestation. If all of those came back negative, the next step is to treat the allergy symptomatically and try to discover the cause of the allergy. Three main type of allergies are usually affecting pets: food allergies, flea and parasite related ones and environmental type (allergens coming from trees, pollens, dust etc etc). Some medications can be given by the vet in order to repair any possible skin lesions (like steroids and antibiotics). Hope this an

It looks like he has a skin infection so he should be examined by a vet to determine the cause and treat. He may need an antibiotic and anti-inflammatory and your vet can prescribe. You could bathe him with a medicated shampoo, like Douxo Chlorhexidine shampoo and see if that helps, too.

Sadie has a rash type thing under her front right leg. What is it, how bad is it, and what can I do for it?
This is probably caused by an allergic reaction. first of all make sure you de-flea Sadie regularly every month with a high quality spot on (ex. Bravecto) as fleas are by far the most common reason for these reactions. If the fleas are not the problem, it could be an allergic reaction to food or an environmental factor. this is more complicated to treat and will sometimes require medications such as Steroids, anti histamines or Cytopoint or Apoquel in order to stop the allergy.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This is possibly due to allergies. It really comes down to figuring out what is causing her allergies so that they can be treated or the specific allergen avoided. A secondary infection is likely and also needs to be addressed. There are many things that can cause allergies though in most cases they can be broken down into 3 big categories: flea, food and environmental allergies. Allergies are usually worked up in a stepwise fashion starting with flea allergies as this is the easiest and cheapest to take care of. If not on a flea preventative, then it would be a good idea to get started on one. If already on one then it would be a good idea to change to something else (there are many new products out in the market). If not improved in 1-3 months then it is time to move on and check for food allergies by switching to a novel diet (new protein and new carbohydrate). If that does not seem to be the issue then you are left out having to check for envir

I would have to see her in person in order to make a diagnosis, so I recommend you take her into the vet. The vet can diagnose what is causing her skin issue and can treat her. My dog has been scratching and licking his belly so much that his fur has a mat now. After I shaved it I saw that his belly is really red and has a lot of rash.
Hi, it looks like Buddy has inflammation of the skin, possibly secondary to an allergy . He might also have a secondary bacterial infection. It would be best to have him checked over so that he can have some medications to help his skin settle. Hope this helps and that Buddy gets better soon !

Oh, poor Lucky! It is common for dogs to develop rashes this time of year due to the increase in pollen counts (environmental allergy) and parasites (fleas, mosquitos) that we typically see. The lesions that are present on Lucky's legs look to resemble what we see in patients with superficial pyodermas (bacterial infections of the skin), but we can also see these with patients that develop Demodectic mange (a mange mite that is found normally in the hair follicle but experiences an overgrowth). You can try bathing Lucky in a soothing shampoo, such as an aloe and oatmeal shampoo. If the lesions become worse or Lucky becomes itchy it would be best to have him seen by his veterinarian to see if any additional treatment is required. A skin scrape may be performed to rule-out Demodectic mange, and a skin cytology may be performed to check for the presence of bacteria. Some patients then require medicated topical shampoos, +/- systemic antibiotics, +/- anti-pruritic (anti-itch) medicati

From the pictures, it could be that Zeus has a rash from a contact allergy, or this could be hives. Try giving him an oatmeal bath tonight to see if that helps with it. If it does not help with this skin problem or it gets worse, I would have him seen by a vet as soon as possible. The vet can diagnose what is causing it, and can prescribe the appropriate treatment for it. Best of luck, I hope this helps!
