Is a dark patch on my male dachshund's testicles a normal change?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 1 month old | 10 lbs

Hello, My two year old dachshund has a darker patch of skin on his testicles towards the back/bottom of his scrotum. It didn't look like this before, his scrotum used to be all on color (lighter). He's not fussy and they aren't sensitive to touch. Is this normal? Please see attached pictures. Thank you.

Hi, yes this is a normal skin change for this area. If you feel the skin, it is also thickened, it is absolutely normal and could be due to the testicles lying on the ground/hard surface on repetitive occasions.
