Dog allergies? Are Mountain Cur or Aussie dogs hypoallergenic?

Howdy! I wanted to reach out about dog breeds as I want to make sure I get a pooch that I can make happy in my life! I have a slight dog allergy and wanted to know if Mountain Cur/Australian Shepherds are hypo allergenic? I am under the impression that Curs are but wanted to get in touch with a professional

So no dogs are truly hypoallergenic, but the Mountain Cur is believed to be ok for people with allergies due to their short hair. Poodles are another option. Australian Shepherds are a big no for people with allergies.

While no dogs are completely hypoallergenic there are some that have less dander than others. The most common of these breeds include the poodle, the Bichon Frise, and the Maltese. It's really difficult to know which breeds your kids will be allergic to. I find the small breed dogs to generally not cause allergies as much as the larger breed dogs, so it's good that you are in the market for a small breed dog. The dogs that I find to be especially itchy are pit bulls, shar peis and bulldogs. The only way you will know for sure is if the new dog spends about a week in the house. If a week goes by and your kids are not showing signs of allergies, then you can be rather sure that the new dog will not cause allergies. I definitely recommend adopting rather than buying one from a store or breeder. Shelters will often allow you to test them out before committing to adopting them and usually have plenty of small breed dogs available. I hope that helps and all goes well with your new dog search.

I don't know if my puppy is 100 percent miniature schnauzer because my mom is getting allergies is that normal if their supposed to be hypoallergenic?
There is no such thing as a true hypoallergenic dog. They all shed and have dander, some just do it less than others. You can try a thing the puppy once a week as that can decrease the amount of shedding and keeping her groomed regularly

I have a pitbull/bulldog mix that stays outside who is allergic to cedar bedding and pine is there a hypoallergenic bedding for outside animals?
Cottons sheets or shredded paper can be very effective, as can lining the bedding area with aeroboard insulation or inch deep rubber matting. If he is also allergic to dust mites, bedding should be replaced/boil washed and the area vacuumed at least once a week

Are Labradors hypoallergenic?
Labrador Retrievers are not "hypoallergenic," because they do shed their coats seasonally. Crossing Labrador Retrievers with Poodles, creating the "Labradoodle" hybrid, seems to create a Labrador-type dog that doesn't shed, or doesn't shed much, and this is one of the factors that has led to the popularity of this crossbreed. Hello !! So my dog has a hacking cough at night but his heart rate is 68bpm resting, breathing is 24 bpm and I think temp is fine too , he is about 8 months and is an Aussie Shepard , he’s in heart worm prevention and flea/tick also I gave him a tea
Cough can be caused by an infection, heart problem or lung condition, it is important to first know the cause before treating it as treatment is different from condition to another. The most common disease causing cough is a viral/bacterial infection called Kennel cough, this disease usually resolves without treatment within a couple weeks but if the cough is too severe it is recommended to go to the vet in order to get cough medicine and antibiotics.

What breed is my dog. I’m thinking mountain cur but not sure
Where we live this would be a 'Carolina dog' which is like a mountain cur. Basically both of these are mongrel dogs that are a mix of everything and they revert to the wild dog type which is medium size, almost always the color of Sadie, thin, athletic and often skiddish or shy. They are smart and long lived, having learned to survive in the wild for generations. These are the most common type of feral dog and each region has a local name for the breed. Maybe a dog would be a better pet for you. Cats by nature can be standoffish, and while there are breeds that are extremely affectionate like Ragdolls, that would not be good for your allergies. I would think very carefully about getting another pet, and I say this gently. Given this would be #4, it's not fair to the animal to keep giving them away in search of finding an animal that meets all your needs. They are living creatures, and it's hard on an animal when it's taken away from it's home and moved to new circumstances. No one animal will be perfect, and when you take on the responsibility of an animal, it deserves love and respect as well as a stable home. Should you decide to get a dog, I'd recommend one like Poodle or a poodle mix like a Goldendoodle. Those are good for people with allergies. I hope this helps!

Hi there. The concern with Australian Shepherds is that many dogs of this breed may carry the MDR1 gene mutation, which makes them especially sensitive to certain medications. Frontline (active ingredient fipronil) is NOT a drug that would be expected to cause any problems in these dogs, so in general it is fine to use in Aussies.

Flea and tick drugs are not toxic if used responsibly at acceptable doses. Shepherd breeds should ways use these drugs with care due to the possible presence of the MDR gene, a genetic component that can cause oversensitivity to some drugs. Other products that are natural that have been shown to have some repellant and insecticidal activity include coconut oil and cedar oil.
