My golden retriever scratched a bleeding lump. Does it need treatment?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 8 years and 9 months old

My golden retriever has a lot of nodules and in the past when they have popped, it's been thick white discharge and it has healed pretty well. he scratched one of them open this morning. It is in his neck. No white discharge, little bit of blood. Does it need special treatment or will it heal itself?

Hi, it looks like a cyst and it should heal on its own if the area is cleaned andhai around it clipped. I would also make sure that Ossi is comfortable as the skin looks extremley red. If with clipping and cleaning things do not seem to improve, Olli might need stronger medications. Hope this helps.
