Dog's ears warm and painful after grooming. Is it an infection?

Pet's info: Dog | Dachshund (Miniature Smooth Haired) | Female | spayed | 3 years and 4 months old | 22 lbs

My dogs ears are warm and she doesn't want me to touch them. She got groomed at the groomer last week. She hasn't been her self sense. I know they split her nails terrible and may be traumatized. Any suggestions. She is eating drinking and peeing and pooping normal

The warm ears and sensitivity to getting them touched could be due to an ear infection. If Khloe got a bath at the groomers, water could have accidentally got into ears causing the infection. I'd have her seen by a vet for this problem tomorrow.

I would get it checked to make sure there isn't something going on. If his ears were plucked at the groomer it may have irritated his ear canal and that could make him hold his ear down rather than up if he feels he needs to protect it.

Kiba's ear seems red on the inside, only one of his ears though. We just noticed it today after we gave him a bath. We are scared to clean it too thoroughly now, we're worried it might hurt him. Do you think we should clean it more or do anything? Or
This looks like it could have an early infection. I would recommend having your veterinarian do an exam to make sure there isn't anything going on like a middle ear infection. Since you've caught it early hopefully only a short course of topical medication will be needed.

I have a Lagotto Romagnolo (9mo).Yesterday he got groomed and had his ears plucked/cleaned.Since, he is extremely irritated, uncomforable and anti social. he keeps shaking his head. Is there any relief I can give to his ears?
I am afraid, if she is still that irritated, you need to have his ears checked. The groomer could have damaged the ear drum or caused inflammation by not cleaning the ears correctly. If the ear drum was damaged, anything you apply to the ear will cause further damage. If the irritation still there tomorrow, please take Truffle to the vet for an ear exam.

My Bernedoodle was recently at the groomer last weekend to be exact. Just noticed a thick scabbing on the inside of ears. It’s in the exact same spot on both sides. i wasn’t sure if it was from her cut or if something else is going on? I am attaching
It could be from the groomer's clippers - either an infection or clipper burn. I suggest you use a cotton ball soaked with a DILUTE peroxide solution (1 part peroxide to 10 parts water) and wipe the ears to remove the scabs. Then apply a thin layer of Neosporin to the affected areas twice a day until healed. Keep her indoors to stop flies from getting onto the ears or she will get fly strike. If it doesn't start looking better in a few days then she should see your vet for an exam.

Hello and thank you for contacting Boop by Petco. I suspect Louls developed allergic reaction that makes his skin very itchy. Scratching the ears suggests ear canal infection, that is often a part of allergic skin problems. A visit to the groomers could definitely make things worse as Louls may be allergic to one of the products your groomer used on him. You should take Louls to your local vets to confirm the diagnosis and to get treatment for him. It will likely be a course of anti-inflamatory medications.

It sounds like Gypsy may have an ear infection. This is a very common condition in dogs and is treated with special ear cleaners and medication for bacteria or yeast, depending on what type of organism is causing the infection. I'd recommend taking Gypsy in to the vet right away (although an emergency clinic is unnecessary) for evaluation and to get treatment started. Best of luck!

Poor Khloe! It sounds like something in that ear is definitely bothering her. Even if there is nothing visible from the outside, she may have a foreign body such as a stick or piece of grass stuck down inside the ear canal, or a deep infection that can't be seen easily. I would recommend taking her to the vet for a check-up - he/she can look down inside the ear canal with an otoscope to check for any problems.

My dog's ears have become very red and swollen. I noticed it the other day but it was only one ear and I thought it was from feeding him something new. It is now both ears and they are extremely hot too. Should I be concerned?
It sounds like poor Mario may have an infection. Ear infections can be caused by bacterial, parasitic or fungal infection, or a combination of these, and can be associated with dietary or environmental allergies or sensitivities, immune system disorders, or a combination of the above. Mario needs to see a vet to have an ear swab done. Your vet can look at the sample under the microscope and treat appropriately based on what is found. Your vet will also need to examine the ear with a scope to see if the ear drum is intact, as some medications cannot be used safely if the eardrum is ruptured. Ear infections can be very painful, and can sometimes progress to include the middle or inner ear, where they can cause neurologic signs or permanent hearing loss. Please book an appointment to have Mario seen as soon as possible to help get him feeling better.

I would definitely be suspicious of an ear infection from the pictures and what you are describing. Ear infections usually have a primary cause that allows it to be infected and allergies are at the top of the list, so this is definitely possible, but both ears would be affected. Other common primary causes are something stuck in the ear and excessive moisture in the ear. It's best to have her evaluated by a veterinarian, so they can have a good look in the ear and provide the necessary medication to clear this up. For now, it will be good to gently flush the ear once every two day to help remove the debris from the ear - this will also help with treating the suspected infection.
