When does male dog testosterone scent go away after neutering?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Bulldog | Male | unneutered

Hi I’m looking to adopt rocky but he’s not desexed! My boy bosco that I already have hates dogs that aren’t desexed. Because of this I have to get him desexed and wait until the testosterone scent is gone before I can bring him home. How long do you think that will be? Rocky is around 4 years old according to the pund.

Usually after neutering the hormones decrease gradually with most gone in a few weeks, up to six weeks. Once Rocky is neutered you may want to have a trial foster to make sure the dogs will adjust to each other and not fight. Some older dogs still act more male even after they have been neutered and I don’t want you to adopt a dog that doesn’t get along with Bosco.
