Can human collagen help my senior chihuahua with arthritis pain?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Chihuahua (Long Coat) | Female | spayed | 7 years and 7 months old | 14 lbs

My chihuahua is 9 years old of 6 pounds and she has iltritis in her hips. These pass 2 days she is very still and shaking in pain. Our vet gave her antiinflamation supplements. Can I also give her human collagen and how much should I if I could?

No, human collagen will not be helpful and other supplements like that will not likely help. The anti-inflammatories you got from the vet will work the best. If she does not seem to be responding to the medication then talk to your vet about it. They can maybe adjust the dose or use a different medication or a combination of two or three different medications.
