My hamster's eye infection won't heal, eyelid bleeding. What now?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Small Animal | Hamster | Male | neutered | 0.33 lbs

My hamster has had an eye infection for a couple of months and I've taken him to the vet 3 separate times and I've tried everything they have including eye drops 3 times a day. He still has the eye infection and now the bottom lid of him eye is starting to bleed. What do I do now? Is there anything I can do??

Thanks for reaching out about Baby and including a photo. Possibly this is not a simple infection and possible dental disease or a mass. Radiographs might help identify the condition more. Good luck.

It is possible that Jacob has actually ruptured his eye. This can be very serious. I would highly encourage you to have him evaluated by a veterinarian as soon as possible. Antibiotics may be recommended based on what they may find. Best of luck and I hope he improves soon. Thank you for using Pet Coach.
