Is 500mg Doxycycline 3x daily too high for my dog with lupus?

My dog has been diagnosed with lupus and prescribed Niacinimide and Doxycycline. I'm worried that the dose of Doxycyline is too high - 500 mg three times daily, since everything I've read online indicates a much lower dose. Is this too much? Pet's info: Dog | English Springer Spaniel | Male | neutered | 7 years and 6 months old | 60 lbs

Hello. I wonder if perhaps the labels were mixed up. Normally, Doxycycline would be prescribed at 5-10 mg/kg ( 136-272 mg ) every 12 - 24 hours & the niacinamide 500 mg every 8 hours. Now if your vet actually sent home tetracycline, then the dose would be 500 mg every 8 hours. But if the Doxycycline was substituted for the Tetracycline, then the total dose should be less.
