How much and how often to feed an 8-week German Shepherd puppy?

Hello! I will be getting an 8 week old purebred german shepherd puppy and I just want to know how many times a day should I feed him and how much per feeding? Thanks!

Congratulations on your new puppy! You should feed him 3-4 times a day until he is 4-6 months old. Then he can be fed twice a day. The amount of food to feed him depends on the diet you feed him. Every dog food bag will have instructions on the back and this is a loose guide. You and your veterinarian can adjust the food as needed. Bubba MUST eat a large breed puppy food. The diet I recommend is the Royal Canin German Shepherd Puppy. This diet will allow an even growth and it is highly digestible. German Shepherds can be very sensitive dogs when it comes to food.     Some dogs personalities are what I call "food hounds". The LOVE food. You could feed them the whole bag and they would be glad to eat it and want more. But I do not recommend this as it can make them overweight and sick with vomiting and/or diarrhea. I would recommend to feed him about 2 cups a day of food split into 2 meals. As he grows you will be able to increase this amount. He will limit his amount of exercise usually - you can take him on short walks now but he must work his way up to longer walks/runs. You will notice that he will play hard for 30-60 mins then sleep hard. This is normal for puppies. As he gets older, he will sleep less and play more. I hope this helps!

Feed him 4-5 times daily at his age. Puppies need to eat small meals frequently to keep glucose levels stable. As he ages, you can definitely rease the number of feedings until he is eating twice daily at about 1 year old. The brands of food you mentioned are all premium diets and excellent choices for a growing puppy. If the have "large breed" puppy formulas, those would be best to ensure Odin doesn't grow too fast. You can make a slurry or gruel by mixing the Esbilac with the kibble. Decrease the amount of liquid over the next few weeks until he is eating dry food by 8-10 weeks of age. He can begin vaccines at 8 weeks of age though you may want to have him dewormed now and then repeat it in the next several weeks.

My German Shepherd puppy is almost 7 months old and I want to know how to properly feed him, how often, what quantities, and what foods other than dog food can he eat?
As German Shepherd dogs are very prone to having food sensitivities and also are prone to exocrine pancreas insufficiency you should not feed him any food that is not dogfood, ie human food, treats, etc. The best is to feed specific puppy food for German Shepherd Dogs such as Royal Canin Maxi Puppy Dry Dog Food Royal Canin German Shepherd Puppy Dry Dog Food or similar specific complete puppy foods for large dogs. As for quantities and how often to feed your puppy, , stick to the instructions on the bag as quantities depend on ingredients, weight of puppy and age. I would feed my puppy 3-4 times daily.

how much kibble should i give to a 35 days old german shepherd puppy and how many times a day. he is 4lbs i am feeding pedigree pro starter kibble for pups. pls tell the quantity in numbers. not grams or stuff
You will need to look at the bag's label which gives you a daily amount to feed. Divide this into four portions and feed those over the day. The back of the bag has the amount to feed at the respective weight.

I have a 35-day German Shepherd puppy. Which food would be best for her to eat?
I would recommend a balanced and complete diet. In my opinion good quality commercial diets are definitively the best choice to make sure you provide all the nutrients he needs, especially while he is growing. I would recommend to feed him 3 times daily for the first 6-8 months.

Jordan is so cute! At 40 days of age, he can be started on a puppy formulated food. He needs a puppy food because puppies need higher amounts of protein, calcium, and calories than an adult dog to grow properly. A puppy food will provide this for him. Brands I recommend include Royal Canin, Hill's Science Diet, Purina ProPlan, and Iams. He should be fed three times a day, once in the morning, afternoon, and evening. On his bag of puppy food, there will be a daily recommended allotment of food, and I would divide that into three equal portions. I have a new German Shepherd puppy. 8 weeks old on monday. Was curious if I could tell me what vitamins I should give him. And how many cups to feed him.
Commercial dog foods are required to contain all necessary vitamins and minerals and Gunner should not need an additional vitamin supplement. I'd recommend purchasing a high quality puppy food intended for large breed dogs and using the feeding recommendations on the bag as a general guide for how much to feed in a day. Many dogs need less food than what is suggested on the bag, and if he doesn't finish the food offered in 15 minutes you don't need to coax him. It is important for large breed puppies to stay lean when growing for appropriate growth of the bones and joints.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Personally I think you should be feeding Ellie large breed puppy food. If the breeder thinks the puppy should be eating something equivalent to it's mothers milk it shouldn't have been removed from it's mother until it was fully weaned. If you want to do what the breeder says don't do it for long and slowly mix her solution with canned puppy food in the next 1-2 weeks. By 7 weeks of age she should be only eating a high quality commercial large breed puppy food. When you feed your dog depends on when you get up and go to bed. Most people feed them when they get up in the morning to start and then give the last meal 4 hours or more before they go to bed. At 5 weeks of age I would be feeding Ellie 3-4 times per day. Puppies will eat themselves sick if you allow it. Portion sizes for puppies are not one size fits all. Check the back of the bag of food. Manufacturers frequently provide feeding guidelines based on your puppy's age and weight. Feed 3-4 times daily then decrease as the puppy matures until you are feeding twice daily. Since he is extremely food driven, use this to your advantage when training.
