My 7-month-old Maine Coon is lethargic with a slight fever. Why?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Maine Coon | Male | neutered | 6 months and 28 days old | 13.2 lbs

I have a 7 month old Maine Coon and he's become lethargic and slightly feverish. He still eats and drinks, and uses the litter box. He plays every now and then but normally just lays around. No vomiting or diarrehea. What could be wrong?

Just like humans, pets can get sick for many many reasons. It's possible he's fighting a virus, that he ate something he shouldn't have or that his stomach hurts. If he is lethargic beyond 48 hours, if he is not eating or drinking as normal or if he is getting worse, have him examined by the veterinarian.
