Why is my 3-month Golden puppy's hip large and he's limping?

I have a 3 month old golden retriever. After a walk in the hills the weekend his hip look very large. Not swollen but looks like a bone sticking. He plays but walks mostly 3 legged but does put some weight on it. Pet's info: Dog | Golden Retriever | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 1 day old | 30 lbs
