My dog ate underwear but seems fine. Is it an emergency?

This is concerning because I can't tell you how many times I've seen underwear cause an obstruction resulting in an emergency surgery that costs thousands. Take Heromine into a vet now to have vomiting induced to get it out.

My dog just swallowed my underwear what should I do?
If it has been less than 2 hours since your pet ate it, you can induce vomiting by giving an oral dose of hydrogen peroxide, about 1 cc per pound. One tablespoon is about 5 cc. A turkey baster will work if you don't have a syringe. Longer than two hours and it will have already moved into the intestines. If he does not produce the underwear, he needs to go to the vet right away. This could cause a blockage in his intestines, or it could cause the intestines to bunch up along the fabric and slow or even stop the blood supply to them. If left untreated, this condition can be deadly.

Also my dog ate the crotch of my thong. Will that pass or will it get stuck? My other dog that passed was fine. Any signs I should watch for?
Underwear can get stuck in your dog's GI tract. If it does, that requires surgery to fix. If Maxine ate the underwear less than 2 hours ago, take her to your vet to induce vomiting to try to get it out. If it's been longer than 2 hours, you will need to monitor her for signs such as vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea, and lethargy. Those signs can indicate the underwear is stuck in her GI tract, and she will need to see a vet immediately.

Hi! My puppy ate the crotch area out of my underwear. I'm not sure when she ate it but she's been her normal and playful self all day & still shows an appetite. Should I wait until tomorrow to see if it passes?
Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. I would recommend just watching her for now to see if it passes. I would monitor her stool to see if there is any evidence of the fabric in her stool. If she is showing any symptoms such as vomiting, lethargy or decreased appetite then I would get her seen by a veterinarian as soon as possible to have abdominal x-rays taken and an exam.

My dog ate a condom and pieces of underwear, she's 9 month old beagle. She ate these items at 6:50 has pooped twice and ate it's now 1:04 will she be okay?
Hopefully Nymeria will be ok. There is always a chance for an intestinal obstruction to occur within the first 2-12hrs of ingesting a foreign body, so continue to monitor her for this time frame for any signs of trouble which include: excessive vomiting ( even water), lack of appetite, abdominal pain and severe lethargy. However things are looking good so far, especially since she has eaten and kept it down.

My pregnant pug ate my husband's underwear, the butt of them. She's vomited since last night and a little this morning. She's eating and drinking, passing Dry stools with fabric in the stool... I've given her a 5 mg dulcolax and giving her Pedialyte
Hello. If she is eating, drinking & still passing stools, then she may not need surgery. You definitely want to increase her intake of fluids. Supply low sodium broths or stocks for her to drink in addition to her fresh water. Switch to a wet diet & add a moderate amount of additional liquid to this, but not too much. You do not want to dilute the nutritional density of her food too much. Take 2 slices of bread & slather each piece with a layer of Vaseline & try to get her to eat this a piece at a time. If you can get one slice in her now, you can do the second piece later on or this evening. Hopefully this will lubricate her gut & push the rest of the material out of her. But if she stops eating & vomits everything, becomes bloated or shows abdominal pain, you will need to make a decision about her care. Hopefully, she will continue to pass things over the next 24 hours. Thanks for using Boop by Petco.

If he does not show signs of vomiting or abdominal pain and if he has normal appetite and he is passing normal stools you should monitor him at home. The signs of a foreign body / obstruction in the small intestine include vomiting, abdominal pain, lack of appetite, not passing stools at all. If you see any of these signs, you need to take Gianny to your vets right away.

My puppie has recent got a part of my undies from clothes I was folding and he tore them to pieces. I didn’t think anything of it. But checking his poop I saw red strong from the undies. He seems seems his normal self. Should I be concerned?
Well that was naughty of him. If the material is coming out that is a good sign. We get concerned about possible foreign body issues when we see vomiting (even water), decreased appetite, and lethargy. As long as he is still bouncing around, eating well and acting like his normal self, there is no need for concern. If he does start to have symptoms, then a vet visit is highly recommended. Just try to keep him away from things he can ingest and always monitor him when he is outside of his crate. My 9 month old cavapoo has swallowed a thong! He seems perfectly happy and acting normal. He's been pooing and eating normally I'm just starting to worry as this happened on wednesday and he still hasn't passed it!!
Oh no, that was naughty of Benji to eat the thong! It's good that he's acting normally, as well as pooping and eating. It can take time for the underwear to pass, but if it still hasn't passed by Monday, I would take him into the vet for an x-ray to see if the thong can be visualized in the intestine. If he stops eating, stops pooping, has diarrhea, starts vomiting, or becomes very lethargic, then rush him into a vet immediately. I hope this helps!

She will likely pass it within the next 24 hours. Monitor for lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite or abdominal pain. These are symptoms that may indicate an obstruction. If you want to be 100% safe, have her seen at the nearest veterinary ER. Vomiting can be induced via injection which should bring the scrunchie back up. This is most successful when done within 2 hours of ingestion.

This is probably going to cause some problem, at the very least vomiting and constipation but it could also cause an intestinal blockage, i strongly recommend that you take him to the vet in order to have an xray done, this way the vet will be able to assess the situation and treat it accordingly.
