Why is my cat depressed and shaking after a companion passed away?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 5 months and 11 days old

Phoenix recently has had a significant change in behavior. Ever since Blizzard (he had a very close bond with him) passed hes started shaking frequently seems generally depressed, only sits in 2 spots: in front of or on the water dish (he'll sit there for hours) or in his own spot in the corner. Last night he randomly started meowing occasionally. About a week ago after i changed the litter I saw him urinate and it was foamy/bubbly. The vet simply suggested depression. He eats and drinks still.

I suggest you try some Feliway diffusers to see if it will help him. Give it a couple months to see if it helps. The diffusers must be changed every 30 days and you need to get enough diffusers to cover the square footage of the house. Also, some environmental enrichment would be a good idea.
