Friday evening my Two year old Havanese female ate a small piece of sausage that fell off a pizza. About 8 hrs. later vomiting and diarrhea. 16 hrs. later no vomiting but bloody red diarrhea. Drinking small amount of water - no hard food given. Is there anything I should be doing?

Thank you for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach with your question about Sophie. Poor girl. The problem is that even a small piece of sausage can cause a dog problems because of the fat content. You are seeing that with the vomiting and diarrhea, and now bloody diarrhea. Because her symptoms have progressed to blood in her poop, it's time to see a vet. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. I hope this helps!
