My nursing husky is limping after giving birth. Is she okay?

My husky delivered 6 puppies last Saturday, and I'm worried because she is limping (left front leg)

Limping means Koshy is in pain. Please do not give her any human pain medications. Many are toxic to dogs, and can be fatal if given. Plus they aren't safe for nursing puppies. I'd take her and her puppies into the vet for this problem.

Take her outside on a leash to go potty and bring her right back inside. If the lameness improves with rest, she likely sustained a mild soft tissue injury. If this does not help or it is worse, then she will need to see her veterinarian. She may require x-rays if the painful portion of that limb can be identified. I hope this information helps!

You cannot give Rimi any human pain medications. Many are toxic to dogs, and can be fatal if given. Plus with her being pregnant, she can only have certain pain meds. You need to take her into a vet now to get safe pain medications.

Limping means Mocha is in pain. I recommend resting him for the next 48 hours. No running, jumping, or playing. Take him out to toilet on a leash, and bring him right back in when he's done. If he still appears painful after this time, then I would take him into the vet for an exam. The vet can diagnose where the pain is coming from, and can dictate a treatment plan for it. He may also benefit from some pain medications, which the vet can prescribe. Please do not give him any human pain medications, as many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. I hope this helps!

My dog had 12 pups a week from now she is still bleeding and she has been limping for 3 day now is that normal?
She may have had obturator nerve damage from the delivery that is causing her limping but honestly, that is not very common in dogs. The limping may not be related to the delivery at all. I don't know. That is why a vet exam is needed. If medications are needed to make her feel better the vet will be able to give her something safe that won't hurt the puppies. Vaginal bleeding one week after delivery may be normal. If it persists longer than a total of 2 weeks I would have your vet check that out.

Poor Lucy! Limping is a sign of pain in dogs, so it is hurting her if she's limping. Because she has had her leg lifted up only touching it to the ground sometimes and it's been a day of her doing this, I think taking her into the vet now would be a good idea. It's clearly hurting her, and she likely needs pain meds. Please do not give her any human pain medication, many are toxic to dogs and can be fatal if given. The vet can prescribe a safe pain medication for her, and can diagnose what is causing her to be non-weight bearing.

Is there a safe painkiller for pregnant bitches? My girl has went over the side of her knee & she's limping..she's resting at the moment
Please do not give Leiga anything over the counter. There are prescription medications that may be safe depending on what stage of pregnancy she is in. Keep her quiet and cage rested but please see a vet if you feel she needs medications.

She may have injured a muscle, tendon or ligament. Dogs typically are reluctant to show pain, even if they are in considerable discomfort. I would keep her quiet for a few days, with no tricks. Restrict activity to just leash walks for elimination. Crate Kaya if necessary. No running, jumping or rough play. The medication may have caused some GI upset. Pain or discomfort can also affect appetite. Confirm the dose and frequency with your veterinarian. Warm her food up or mix in some baby food to stimulate her appetite. Recheck with your veterinarian if the lameness persists or if her appetite does not return.

Poor Dexter. I'm glad to hear he isn't painful when you manipulate and palpate his leg. He likely has a soft tissue injury like a sprain. These will usually heal on their own with rest. I would recommend to rest him for a couple of days and if he isn't improved by Monday or Tuesday then I would let your vet do an exam and potentially some X-rays to ensure there is nothing more serious going on. Also, they will be able to prescribe him some pain meds. I do not recommend to give him any human pain meds as these are usually toxic to dogs.
