Why is my 6-month-old boxer puppy pooping red blood after eating?

Pet's info: Dog | Boxer | Male | unneutered | 6 months and 1 day old | 54 lbs

6 month old boxer I've raised since he was 2 days old .Boomer is still active but while pooping this evening he had some bright red blood in his stool he's bad for chewing and eating things he's not supposed to and instead of his normal chicken I used hamburger meat in his food. I re-wormed him again this evening just to be on the safe side.

If Boomer eats things he shouldn't, that could be causing damage to his GI tract leading to the blood in his stool. I'd keep an eye on him tonight, and then have him seen by a vet in the morning for this.

Our 6 month old puppy has had a few runny poops in the last day and today there was a drop of blood in his otherwise normal looking poop. Should we be concerned? No other health issues, neutered and fully vaccinated.
Thank you for contact Boop by Petco with your question. Luke's runny poop could be caused by intestinal worms (if he's not up to date with his deworming treatments), or it could be a GI illness or he ate something rotten. The drop of blood in his poop could due to to irritation of the GI tract from the diarrhea. Since's his poop is normal now, just keep an eye on him for now. If you keep seeing blood in his poop or he has runny poops, I'd take him into the vet. I hope this helps!

My puppy has red tinted poop- the last Boop by Petco vet answered and said to take him to the vet immediately but they don’t have an appointment until Friday. Is this an emergency?
Thank you for contacting Boop by Petco with your question about Iggy. I would be concerned that there is blood in his poop. It could be he has intestinal worms, as those are very common in puppies. I would have him checked out by a vet for this, as there can be very serious causes of blood in the poop like parvo. I'd take him into a vet today. I hope this helps!

My puppy is almost 2 months old, he is energetic and enjoying his new home. The pup is also eating well however there is blood in his stools and the stools are also generally very watery.
Hello and thank you for contacting Boop by Petco. Blood in the stools in a puppy usually is caused by intestinal worms or infections. Please, take Rex to your local vets to check him over. He may just need worming medication and a few days of antibiotics, but your vet also may want to test him for parvovirosis, a nasty viral infection that attacks mainly puppies.

I noticed today there was blood in my dogs pooh
Thanks for using Boop by Petco! This could be just something transient and not of concern. However, if this continues and most importantly becomes diarrhea, have your pup evaluated by a veterinarian for further assessment and treatment as it could be something like parasites for example. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Poor guy! If he is otherwise ok then he should be fine until the morning. It isn't uncommon for blood to appear in diarrhea. It indicates inflammation in the colon. Causes of diarrhea are: intestinal parasites (so bring fresh stool sample), viral or bacterial infections, dietary indiscretion (ate something gross), HGE (hemorrhagic gastro-enteritis), pancreatitis, food allergy or intolerance, reaction to a new treat/food/table food. As long as he is eating and drinking, acting normally, the stool is formed and he is not vomiting, just keep a close eye on him. Im not sure if you are saying that he has been eating pebbles (small rocks) or if that was a typo and you meant kibble, but if he's been eating small rocks those could be causing some irritation to his rectum and anus when he's pooping. Obviously the other issue is that if the rocks are big enough they could cause a blockage in his intestine, so rocks of all sizes should be avoided. Again as long as there are no other symptoms this is not urgent; however, if you notice it still tomorrow, call your vet and make an appointment. A rectal exam to make sure his anal glands are healthy and to ensure there isn't any rectal mass, etc is indicated. Thank you for asking Boop by Petco!

The past 2 days my dog has been completely acting fine all day and night, but the past 2 mornings he has been popping blood. He will poop through out the day and not have any blood but does in the morning.
Fresh blood in loose stool can be caused by a food indiscretion, intestinal parasites, inflammation of the large bowel and or rectum, an intestinal injury, stress, and a few other causes. Since bleeding into the bowel means that there is an open blood vessel through which intestinal bacteria have access to areas of the body where they should not be and cause more disease. So it is important that your dog needs to be seen by a veterinarian for an exam and needs to have a fecal exam as well, medications according to the exam findings and diagnosis, and prescription antibiotics. Please schedule an appointment with your vet. In the meantime you can start feeding your dog some bland food such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to regular food slowly over a few days.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! Bloody stools can be observed with conditions such as colitis, gastroenteritis, dietary indiscretion, intestinal parasites, among many other possibilities. This is likely unrelated to the surgeries in June. This may be transient and not occur again. However, if this continues, I recommend that you have Hunny evaluated by your veterinarian for further assessment and treatment. Hi and thanks for using Boop by Petco! Sorry to hear and see that Maximus is having problems. It's hard to tell from the pictures if that is blood or something else. Certainly, if you keep seeing what appears to be blood, you would want to get him checked out by your vet. They can perform an exam, run a fecal test for parasites (worms), and perform other tests to see what the problem is. Certainly dietary indiscretion or eating things that he is not supposed to eat can irritate the gut, parasites, toxins, infections, among other things can cause problems. I hope Maximus is ok and gets better soon.
