Can a vet certify my dog's ESA forms for behavior remotely or online?

Pet's info: Dog | Poodle | Male | neutered | 30 lbs

Hi Vet, I have two dogs, Larry and Charlie. I have ESA forms to be completed by a Veterinarian to certify that my dog has all the vaccines (I can send record) and that it is well behaved (we can VC or I can send videos) Could you please help fill out two forms for two dogs and how much would it cost?

We cannot do that from this site. Not only it is illegal, but we cannot make a statement about behavior just from seeing videos or doing a video chat. You need to make an appointment with a local clinic to have this done.

You will need to find another doctor who would be willing to provide an ESA letter. A veterinarian does not have the ability to provide any kind of documentation for an ESA animal - I believe only a mental health professional can make the designation. Keep in mind that an ESA is not the same as a service animal and although there are provisions in the Fair Housing Act that cover ESAs you should make sure you know what is and isn’t legal when asking for provisions if you are renting a house or apartment.

Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! What a beautiful family! We sadly are not associated with a Veterinary clinic or trainer. Your Veterinarian may have names of trainers they recommend. I would also print out the forms and requirements from the agency you want Jax certified under. They need to have certain vaccines, heartworm tests and fecal tests. I hope this helps!

The law requires a Veterinary Client Patient Relationship and to have this an in person examination of the pet is needed to prescribe medications. We are here to provide advice and support. Thanks for using Boop by Petco! You have to take Ryo to a vet to get a health certificate. They have to examine him within 10 days of travel to issue a certificate. That is not something we can do through this website. A certificate for emotional support has to come from your personal doctor- not a veterinarian. All we can do is validate health status. Yes, you should speak to your physician about this. My understanding is that they can provide a letter stating that you have a mental or emotional problem that would benefit from the presence of your pet as an ESA. I don't believe a mental health specialist is usually required, although your physician could clarify this for you if there's any confusion :)

I am so sorry, but we cannot help you with this. We would have to examine her in person, and document the actual findings in a medical record. To falsify records, or for one of us to sign our name to a letter stating that your dog fits the "requirements" of the building, could result in the loss of our license to practice, as we haven't directly examined him. If your dog's height is within the limit, and its just the weight that is the problem, and she is overweight, I do think you can find a vet local to you that would be wiling to right a letter to vouch for Brooklyn's good health and behavior record to the best of their knowledge, and to vouch that she is indeed overweight and you guys are working with her in this aspect. While no one can lie for you, a vet who has examined her in person can attest to her being a good candidate for a resident in the building. Unfortunately a veterinarian cannot legally prescribe you pain medication without examining your dog within the past year, so we cannot prescribe any medication through our online service. I would look into finding out if there is a low cost option for veterinary services in your area, such as a humane society or APL/APA. Hi there! I think part of the issue may be the terminology you're using, when you're trying to find someone to help. By definition, a "therapy dog" is a dog who visits hospitals, nursing homes, or other places and interacts with people there to bring them comfort. What you're describing - a dog that helps you, not members of the public - would be either an emotional support animal, or a service dog. If you're trying to make Leo an emotional support animal, you just need a letter from your doctor or mental health care provider stating that you have anxiety that is helped by having your dog with you. This allows you to have him with you in certain housing situations that may not otherwise allow pets, and may allow him to travel with you in come cases, but does not give him any other public access rights (restaurants, stores, etc.) A service dog, by definition, is trained to perform a specific task to alleviate an owner's disability. Hello Kevin, My name is Dr. Shines and I understand your thought process. Going to the veterinarian can be stressful! Unfortunately online veterinarians are not legally allowed to provide any type of prescription. Any prescription, even prescription food, requires a legal client patient relationship. This can only be established by having a physical exam. This legal relationship will last for 12 months from the date of the exam. I recommend to call Kevin's veterinarian and ask if there is a reason they aren't approving the prescription. Maybe there's a specific reason? You might also look into a mobile veterinarian who can come to your home and save Kevin the stress of a trip. I hope this helps and please feel free to reach out with any additional questions.
