Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Male | neutered | 2 years and 2 months old | 13 lbs

My dog has been fine all day. After dinn6 tonight, he pooped in the house. It was part normal and part soft and kind of dark green in color.

It can be normal for the stool to be a variety of colors but since Biscuit pooped in the house (which I’m assuming is abnormal behavior for him) it’s possible that he’s about to have diarrhea. I’d recommend monitoring him closely and contacting your vet if diarrhea does develop.

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. Any dietary changes can potentially change the consistency and color of feces. This is nothing to be concerned about. I would discontinue the nutritional biscuit that you fed and feed strictly the food that you were giving previously. As long as the stool consistency is firm and not diarrhea this should be fine and I would continue to monitor for now. If you do notice that there is diarrhea, I would have your veterinarian check a stool sample for evidence of intestinal parasites. I hope this helps guide you in the right direction. Please feel free to contact me with any other questions or concerns that you may have.
