My dog is anxious and aggressive. Should I consider euthanasia?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Medium (23 - 60lb) | Female | unspayed | 2 years and 9 months old | 23 lbs

My dog is a bisho havanese breed. We are her 4th owner because she has been moved around a lot. She is incredibly anxious and afraid of strangers, an she will sometimes become agressive. She is a small dog, but we don't feel like we can trust her, and we're unsure about what to do with her, if she should be euthanized or some other action should be taken. She has become more agressive to us in the family to.

Thank you for submitting your question regarding Maila. I recommend setting up a consultation with her veterinarian. It is important to discuss her behavior and any treatment options. She may do well on an anxiety medication or an antidepressant. However, this depends on her aggression. If there is a risk of her harming someone, euthanasia may be the best option. These are hard decisions. I hope this information helps.
