Why won't my male Yorkie breed with my 1-year-old female in heat?

Pet's info: Dog | Yorkshire Terrier | Male | unneutered | 1 year and 11 months old | 3 lbs

I am trying to breed my 2 yr old male puppy with a 1 yr old female puppy both are yorkies. She’s in heat but he continues to run away from her. Am I doing something wrong?

Your female is too young and you should not breed her yet. Dogs should not be bred until they are 2 years old because they are physically and mentally immature. Additionally, Yorkies have a few health concerns so both parents need to be screen before breeding. Any dog that is bred should be with the intention to contribute the best genetics to the breed. Not because they are nice dog, are pure bred or because they are cute. Here is a link about Yorkies and the conditions that require screening. Look at the care section under the Health tab: https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/yorkshire-terrier/ Wait another year for the female and have both screened.
