My dog has a growing spot on her nose. What is it and what can I do?

Hi my 5 year old dog has this on her nose ( saw it 4 days ago) and getting bigger. What could it be and is there anything I can do? Thank you.

Ouch! Any new or suddenly growing growth like this should be checked out by your vet in person ASAP. Allergies, infections, skin irritation from rubbing it on things, and some growths and tumors can all cause spots like that on the nose, and can also cause rapid changes and discoloration like this. Until you can get to your vet, I would place an Elizabethan (cone) collar on Amber and keep the spot clean and dry to help reduce any further irritation. It is also a good idea to monitor the size and shape of it and how rapidly it is changing as this can help your vet figure out what may be going on. Your vet will likely take a full history as well as a potential sample of the spot to see what cells are present and provide treatment as needed.

    Thank you for submitting your question regarding Pretty Girl. She could have sustained a wound to her nose. In this case, it should heal within several days. If it is not healing, then it may indicate a growth on her nose or the beginnings of an autoimmune skin disease. She would need to see her veterinarian to differentiate between these two causes. Ouch! Due to how inflamed that looks I would definitely schedule a vet visit ASAP. Sudden growths/irritations like that can be due to a number of things including bacterial infections, tumors, irritation from digging/rubbing at the spot too much, allergies, etc so it's good to see your vet. They'll likely want to take a sample of the area to determine what is going on and how best to treat it. In the meantime, it's a good idea to place an Elizabethan (cone) collar on Nova to keep her from rubbing at the spot, as well as keep the area clean and dry. If the area is rapidly growing in size, taking note of the size, color, shape changes, etc can help your vet better determine what is going on. If you are noticing any other symptoms (sneezing, fever, loss of appetite, etc) these are important to let your vet know as well.

Within the last week my dog has developed a pink spot on his nose which has been growing rapidly since we discovered it. He doesn't seem bothered by it at all, but he seems to have a very high pain tolerance from past injuries. While searching online
The lesion you are describing and visible in the pictures could include many different diseases, for example: a trauma, a localized bacterial infection, a fungal infection and, even if very unlikely, a neoplastic skin disease (i.e. nasal lymphoma). Discoid lupus erythematous cannot be excluded at this and the presentation might be compatible. Each of these diseases has a different treatment .Generally speaking, I would suggest to keep the area clean with some saline (if cupid dirts his nose while sniffing in the garden) and avoid scratching and licking from other dogs. I wouldn't use any cream and, as you already anticipated, I would suggest a check up with your local veterinarian. Hopefully is just a trauma and will resolve quickly but, the final diagnosis is reached by taking a biopsy of skin from the affected area. A biopsy can be taken under general anesthetic/sedation, otherwise a smaller sample through a fine needle (FNA) or through a skin scrape can be collected. Please post ag

My dog has some strange circle looking thing growing on the top of her nose I don't have any idea what it is. So I'm not sure if I should take her into the vet or not or just wait and see it doesn't look serious. Thank you
This presentation could be due to a trauma or localized spot of skin infection (likely to be caused by bacteria or fungal infection). A check up, appropriate disinfection and possibly antibiotics (oral, topical or in a shampoo formulation) are needed to solve the problem. Disinfection may be started at home with very diluted hibiscrub or betadine or salted water baths. Buster collar may be useful as well to avoid any licking (if any). What us this pink spot on my dogs nose? What can i do for it?
This may be local irritation or infection. if it isn't bothering Timberlynn, you can monitor it at home for rapid change or growth, spread, bleeding or discharge. See your vet if the spot causes discomfort or develops any of the listed symptoms. A fine needle aspirate or biopsy may be done to collect samples for pathology which could provide a diagnosis. Treatment will depend on the final diagnosis.

My dog was having this near her nose for a quite long time but today I saw that it has slightly got enlarged n another similar is protruding out from same point.what is it?is it serious?
A lesion like that could be several things including an ingrown hair, allergies, skin mites, bacterial infection or a skin tumor/mass. There are a couple things you can do at home and they can help but they may not address the underlying cause. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing her diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. You can wash the lesion once a day (not her whole body, just the lesion). Also protect the area from trauma by having your pup wear an elizabethan collar at all times. If the lesion does not start improving within a week or if it is getting worse, have her examined by the veterinarian. I hope this helps and please feel free to post any additional questions.

Good Day, I have noticed a black bump on my dogs nose. I initially thought she scratched herself and is was a scab. But now i can see its growing bigger like skin tag almost. She is 3year old femal Pitbull.
Ouch! That is a concerning sign, especially since the bump is a different color from the regular skin, and is growing in size. Since it's hard to tell what a bump is without an exam and sample (biopsy, fine needle aspirate), it's best to bring Coco into your vet to have it looked at. They can take the sample, check what kind of growth it is, and safely remove it if needed. In the meantime, keeping an eye on how fast it's growing/size, and keeping Coco from pawing at it or rubbing it can help keep it from getting infected or more irritated.

If the spot has changed in size over time it wouldn't hurt to have your vet take another look at it, especially if the change was very rapid over the past few days or weeks. Your vet may recommend taking a sample of the spot for testing to help determine what it may be so it can be treated as needed. Growths like this can be caused by any number of things including rubbing the spot often on surfaces, cysts, blisters, allergies, etc, so having it examined if it is changing is best.

Those spots on Val could be several things including allergies, skin mites, bacterial infection or ringworm (which humans can get). There are a couple things you can do at home and they can help but they may not address the underlying cause. You can try adding in an omega 3 fatty acid supplement for dogs, this can help improve the skin health. You may also try changing her diet to something like Royal Canin or Nutro as they are aimed at skin health. The problem with this area is that she will lick off anything you put on there and this is not advisable. You can wash the lesion once a day with a hypoallergenic baby wipe. Also protect the area from trauma by having your pup wear an elizabethan collar at all times. Poor Xena! If it has been growing, it wouldn't hurt to bring her back into the vet and have a sample taken. This can help determine if it's just discoloration or if there is something more serious ongoing. Another good thing to do is take photos of the spot over time, with a ruler or other measurable item next to it. This can help you and your vet see if the area is growing, and by how much and how quickly which is useful in determining what is going on.
