My cat lost weight & sleeps more after Purina food concerns. Vet?

Hello. I’m sure everyone has heard about the purina food. My cat has been eating fancy feast for a few years now. Since I heard the news I stopped feeding her it. She has no symptoms. Only thing is she’s lost around a pound since August and sleeps a bit more with me. Is this concerning? Should I bring her to the vet for a blood test? People that had problems said their pets were throwing up, having diahera etc. she didn’t have any of them. But I’m really freaked out over the whole situation. Pet's info: Cat | Feral | Female | 4 years and 8 months old | 12 lbs

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. It is never a bad idea to have blood testing done. If there are no abnormal values then at least you will have a baseline of Kate's normal values which can be helpful if there are any issues in the future. Remember, these reported problems with Purina pet foods are currently only allegations by pet owners. There is no scientific evidence that the food is what is making their pets sick. Vomiting and diarrhea are very non-specific symptoms of illness. The FDA is investigating so hopefully we will have more information soon. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
