Does my 11-week-old kitten need deworming before her first shots?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Scottish Fold | Female | unspayed | 2 months and 21 days old

Good night. A few days ago, our family bought a Scottish fold girl. We want to become your clients to get all the necessary vaccines, but we don't know if the kitty needs an antiparasitic program before visiting you? She is 11 weeks old. And if parasites need to be removed, please advise, which drug is better to buy from your experience and where exactly? Thank you in advance for your answer.

Hello, thank you for using PetCoach. This PetCoach service via Petco is separate from the Vetco vaccination clinics. We are not actually related. You are welcome to take Mia to one of those vaccination clinics for her vaccination boosters and deworming. It is not recommend you try to deworm her at home yourself with a kitten this small. They can do it for you with her vaccinations. Kittens should receive vaccines at 8, 12 and 16 weeks of age. She will be fine to wait the extra week until she is 12 weeks old to receive the deworming.
