My 19 yr old cat has kidney disease but my 8 yr old cat hangs with him a lot but now has loss an extreme amount of weight his breath smells too can my 8 yr old have picked up the kidney disease too? Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | neutered | 7 years and 11 months old | 14.4 lbs

Kidney disease isn't contagious, so no he couldn't have gotten it from your other cat. That being said, it's clear something is wrong with Obi, and it could be kidney disease but it could also be diabetes, both of which are common in older cats. This definitely needs to be checked out by a vet quite soon, and I'd book an appointment with his vet for this week for a geriatric blood panel and urinalysis. Once the cause of his symptoms have been diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment option with you. I hope this helps.
