My dog has a growing spot on his side. Is it an engorged tick?

Thank you for the picture, it's very helpful. I'm wondering if that is a tick on Tiger, which would explain why it's gotten bigger since yesterday. The tick will be engorged from his blood. Hi, thanks for using Boop by Petco! Thanks for the picture! It looks like an engorged tick. Gently lift it up and if you see 8 legs then it is a tick. Pull it gently off the skin where the head attaches to the skin or you can have your Vet for Vet tech remove it for you. I would change the brand of tick prevention you are using or start using one. I agree that this looks like an engorged tick on Bella's neck. Try to grab at the base of the attachment either firmly with a pair of tweezers or with your fingers, then smoothly and confidently pull it straight out. Your goal is to pull it straight out so that none of the mouth parts are left behind in the skin. If you're unable to remove it, seek veterinary attention for help in removing it. I can't tell what type of tick it is from the angles in this picture, but remember that ticks can transmit a variety of different infectious diseases. Due to this, I would have a blood test run on Bella in about 6 months to check for some of the more common diseases, like Lyme, Ehrlichia, or Anaplasma. If you don't already have her on a good flea and tick preventive medication, be sure to start one right away. I hope that everything goes well!

I don't know what this is or if I should try to pull it out
That looks like a tick from the picture. They sell small little devices at the pet store or online designed specifically for removing them. I think they are called tick twister or tick tornado. You can also do it with at pair or hemostats or a tweezer. Lots of good videos on how to do this effectively. After removal, you may note swelling local to the size. If your dog is not on monthly flea / tick preventive, I would recommend having him tested for tick borne diseases in about 30-60 days regardless of presence of clinical signs.

From this image, it looks as though the lump may be a tick. It is hard to tell from an image alone, but I would recommend asking your vet for a technician appointment to see if they can remove it for you. If it's not a tick, then it is likely something that can wait until february unless it grows excessively or starts bleeding.

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. What you are seeing looks to be a benign skin mass. It looks like what we call sebaceous adenomas, basically a benign mass of the glands in the skin. This is not a tick and I would not be alarmed by this. If it continues to grow in size, drastically change in appearance or all of a sudden it is bothering him, I would have a veterinarian examined him to perform additional tests on this Mass to ensure it is nothing to be concerned about. It is very difficult to evaluate from a photograph but it is quite possible if there was a tick embedded you couldn't completely remove we could have a localized area of infection here. I would recommend putting a triple antibiotic ointment such as neosporin on the area three times a day. If it isn't looking improved within a few days, then a trip to the vet is needed as he may need oral medications or to have the vet remove any remnants of the tick. If he is licking the area then he may need an e-collar to prevent this. They can be purchased at your vet or at most pet stores.

Hi there and thank you for using pet coach to address your concern. Nusing from the picture, it appears as though she has a tick that is engorged on her face. It is hard to tell for sure because the puctures are slightly blurry but the shape and color has me thinking this is a tick. You can remove this but make sure to remove the head as well. There are videos on how to do this online. Also, you can have this looked at my a veterinarian to make absolute certain this is a tick before trying to remove it. I have found what looks like a tick on my 10 year old corgi-lab, but he is up-to-date on his tick/flea meds. I also tried to remove it, and it did not budge. Any idea of what this could be? Does he need to go to the vet? Thank you for any advise!!
Thank you for providing a picture of this area on Bosco! It could be that it's a skin tag, a type of benign tumor, and that's why it cannot be removed. It could also be a tick that is embedded, and I would not try to remove it again. It would be a good idea to have him seen by a vet for it, so it can be diagnosed and treated as needed.

Is this a tick on my dog or a skin growth ? He has no symptoms of it being a paralysis tick. It has been there for one day.
From the pictures, this looks more like a skin growth than a tick, but without seeing T-Bone in person, I can't say for certain. Given the concern with tick paralysis in your country, I would have him seen by a vet today to be safe. Best of luck.

I found this spot on Winston tonight. Curious if it's a tick or ringworm or black fly bites? And what should I do?
It’s hard to say from the photo. That could be an area where a tick bit Winston. It could also be some sort of puncture wound, spider bite or potentially a ringworm lesion. From the photo, the area looks swollen. Because of this I recommend to have him examined by the veterinarian with in the next 24 hours. A swollen tick bite or puncture wound could indicate the onset of an infection. There could also be a tick head or foreign object trapped in the skin. Ringworm generally does not swell but a deeper infection could. Make sure Winston does not lick the area and have him wear an Elizabethan collar. I hope this helps and best of luck.
