My dog's testicles are inflamed after pooping. Can I treat it at home?

I came home from work and Chicken (7mo pitbull) pooped all over his cage. I don’t know how long he has been sitting in it but I cleaned him up. I noticed his testicles are inflamed, it has like a raspberry pattern type of inflammation. Will he be OK? Should I take him to the vet? Is There’ something I can do for him at home? He runs around and acts like a normal puppy. Nothing has changed in his demeanor or habits. Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 6 months and 28 days old | 30 lbs

Hello, thank you for using PetCoach. So sorry that Chicken is having this issue. This is what is called scrotal dermatitis - an infection of the skin of the scrotum due to high moisture. You can treat this at home. 1. Make sure his environment is always clean and dry. 2. Get this topical spray hydrogel and apply it to the affected area 2-3 times per day until healed. If he starts to lick the scrotum, the problem will get worse or may not heal. He needs to wear it until the scrotum is back to normal. Be sure to get a cone collar that is long enough to go past the end of his nose or his will still be able to lick.
