What's this lump on my dog's leg? Urgent advice before vet visit.

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 6 years and 4 months old | 20 lbs

Just noticed this on my dog’s hind left leg. She is about 5 years old. It’s past 10pm and everywhere is closed and I feel terrible I didn’t notice this earlier. Any advice or comments? Will definitely take her to the vet asap but need something to go off of now

Ouch! Definitely something that should be checked out by your regular vet ASAP. Certain types of tumors such as mast cell tumors, hemangiomas, injuries, blood blisters, etc can all appear like this, and so it should be looked at and biopsied to see what is going on. Until you can get to your vet in the morning, keeping Berkeley from licking or chewing on the spot with an Elizabethan (cone) collar is best to reduce any further injury or irritation.
