Senior dog not eating, bloody stool, drinking lots: Is it serious?

I have a 10 year old yorkie. She hasn’t been eating in a few days. She just pooped and it was a lot of blood she’s also been drinking a lot of water and has been contipated. When the poop came out today it was watery.

I'm concerned about Foxxy and her symptoms. First off, it's quite serious that she hasn't been eating for a few days, she's a senior dog and not eating is a signal something is wrong. It sounds like she has diarrhea if she has watery poop and blood in the poop is quite serious. I also see that she isn't spayed. When dogs aren't spayed, they are prone to an infection of the uterus called a pyometra. A pyometra is deadly without immediate veterinary attention. Two signs of a pyometra include not eating and drinking a lot of water. I think this is a medical emergency and she needs a vet now. This cannot be treated at home. Please take her into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. The information to reach that vet is found on a clinic's answering machine or website. Best of luck.

Your poor pup! She sounds very sick, and it's quite serious that she is having bloody stools. At her age, she could have something seriously wrong causing her symptoms, such as GI tumors. It's also very concerning that she didn't move all day yesterday, which could be due to pain. I would take her into a vet immediately.

I have a 12 year old yorkie who is blind but now she won't get up and is pooping liquids blood...when she gets up she becomes dizzy and refuses to walk.
Oh dear! If Francis is unable to get up and walk, and is also having very bloody diarrhea, I'm afraid this is quite serious - she really needs to be seen by an emergency vet immediately. These symptoms could be caused by a number of different problems, including HGE (hemorrhagic gastroenteritis), pancreatitis, pyometra (a uterine infection that is common in unspayed females), or a systemic illness like liver or kidney disease. Regardless of the underlying cause, this sounds like a life-threatening problem that cannot wait until tomorrow, so I would take her to a vet right away. He/she can do blood work and x-rays to help determine what's wrong and get her started on appropriate treatment.

Oh no, poor Ozzy! It's very serous that he has lost weight, won't eat dog food, and is passing bloody diarrhea in addition to being lethargic. In a senior dog, I would be very concerned he could be suffering from cancer, kidney or liver disease, or hemorrhagic gastroenteritis among other causes. Ozzy really needs to see a vet as soon as possible as he sounds quite sick, and I feel his symptoms are severe enough to warrant a trip to the vet now. Please take him into an ER vet clinic; if there isn't one in your area, there will be a vet on call for emergencies. My dog is 19 years old ive noticed on her bed theres some brownish blood spots shes had diarrhoea for 3 days and is off her food
Hello, and thank you for your question. I'm so sorry to hear that Marble is unwell. This is a situation that definitely warrants a trip to the vet. Given her advanced age, cancer is a possibility. Other possible causes include severe gastroenteritis (gut infection), pancreatitis, toxin ingestion, or parasites. The vet will start by performing a thorough physical exam, looking for any bumps or sources of bleeding. They may recommend blood work or x-rays to further pinpoint the problem. At minimum, they can offer supportive treatments such as fluid therapy to combat dehydration from the diarrhea, stomach protectants and pain medications. The sooner that she can see the vet, the better. In the meantime, I would offer her small, frequent meals of a bland diet such as boiled chicken and plain white rice, which should be easy to digest. I hope this helps, and that Marble feels better soon.

My dog has not been eating and drinking at a minimal for 2dys. Now he has all bright red blood like water when he poops.please help
Tucker really needs to see an emergency veterinarian right away. He could have some kind of serious issue going on like a bleeding rectal tumor, clotting disorder, intestinal infection, or anal gland abscess and needs to be examined to figure out what is going on, and how to help him. Clearly he is very ill if he has not eaten or drunk water for two days, and he needs to be on intravenous fluid support to prevent serious dehydration. Best of luck!

My dogs is 10 years old.she was in excellent health till yesterday when she starts to bleed from her behind. What can I give her to stop bleeding. she is not eating.
Poor Daisy! This bleeding could be caused by infected anal sacs, an anal tumor, trauma to the GI tract, eating something toxic, or a foreign body. If Daisy isn't spayed, then the bleeding could be coming from her vaginal area due to a pyometra. A pyometra would also cause her to not eat. There can be a lot of serious causes of bleeding from the behind, especially in a senior dog, so I would have her seen by a vet immediately to diagnose what is causing the bleeding so she can be treated. I would take her into an ER vet or find a vet on call to see her now.

i have a 12 year old labrador retriever, she has been bleeding from her vagina it seems the last 2 days, she does not want to eat and her stool has been way runnier than usual.
She could be in heat, but in an older dog that is not spayed and showing signs of illness, my concern is always pyometra (a life-threatening infection in the uterus). I would recommend that you have Midnight examined by a vet ASAP. If they determine it is a pyometra, she likely needs emergency surgery.

Hello my dog is bleeding a lot right now and won’t eat... she just drink water
I'm wondering if Brownie is spayed or not. If she isn't spayed, I would be very concerned that this bleeding could be due to a pyometra. A pyometra is an infection of the uterus that is fatal without treatment, and is a medical emergency. Even if she is spayed, it's still a medical emergency when a dog is bleeding a lot. She needs veterinary care now, and you have to take her into a vet immediately. Best of luck.

Poor Skittles! It sounds like she's quite sick. Bloody diarrhea and not eating are always symptoms that warrant a vet visit, so I would recommend taking her in for an exam as soon as possible. She may have a systemic illness like liver or kidney disease, a serious GI issue like pancreatitis or HGE (hemorrhagic gastroenteritis), or may have ingested something toxic. Your veterinarian can do blood work or other testing if needed to help diagnose the problem and get her started on appropriate treatment.

My sons dog is 13 years old and has never been vaccinated, he is have lots of blood in his stool. What could that indicate?
Blood in faeces can be due to many disorders. It can be due to inflammation due to eating something off, ranging all the way to more serious issues such as tumours of the gut. Due to the many possibilities it is imperative to have the dog examined by a vet. This is the quickest and most reliable way to get to the bottom of what is going on. Hopefully it will be something fairly straightforward.
