Why does my dog have a red mass on his eye? How do I treat it?

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. This mass on the cornea could be a component of pannus (very common ocular disease seen in GSD) or this could be granulation tissue (possibly from an old injury) or it could neoplasia (cancer). No matter what, this is highly abnormal and needs to be addressed even if it doesn't seem to bother him. It is very important that you take Fritz to a veterinarian for an exam. This is not something you can treat at home. Be aware that your vet may recommend that Fritz see a veterinary ophthalmologist as this may need specialized testing. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
