My kitten won't eat but seems healthy. Is it an emergency?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Mixed Breed | Male | unneutered | 1 month and 10 days old

So i have two kittens and one is eating wet food just fine but my other kitten (squid) refuses to eat. he doesn’t seem sick as he acts normal like he sleeps, uses the litter box (poop looks normal) plays a lot, interacts a lot with me and my fiancé and his kitten buddy. he will sometimes meow really loudly and paw at the door but then he’ll stop and come lay on me. he won’t eat and i’m not sure if maybe he’s just anxious and having trouble adjusting or if it’s something else.

That's concerning! Refusing to eat is often a sign of illness, and without seeing Squid in person, I can't say for sure what is going on. I can also say it can be really serious when a kitten won't eat, as if they go long enough without eating (about 72 hours), they will develop a fatty liver which is fatal without treatment. I'd take him into the vet first thing to take for a health check. I hope this helps!
