My small dog has bumps on her body. Are they serious or just cysts?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Small (up to 22lb) | Female | spayed | 6 years and 8 months old | 15 lbs

My dog is a 6.5 year old miniature poodle. She’s had this bump for a quite a while now, and has the same on her leg. Should I be concerned? I thought it was a bite, but I checked her and she doesn’t have any fleas or ticks.

Hello, thank you for using Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach. These bumps are basically benign cysts that are very common in small breed dogs although any dog can get them. I would not be worried and just have your vet check them out at Marie's next check-up. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
