My dog has diarrhea, vomiting, moaning for 2 days. What to do?

Pet's info: Dog | Weimaraner | Male | unneutered | 2 years and 3 months old | 90 lbs

My 95 pound weimeraner has had diarrhea x 2 days. I have him 1/2 a flatly and a 2mg immodium. He just vomited the boiled chicken he ate this morning. I think this is because I have him a can of Hills Science canned food 2 days ago. He normally eats Purina Pro plan. Her is having explosive diarrhea and now he vomited and is moaning. Any suggestions?

Poor Sven sounds pretty sick. I'm concerned he's had diarrhea for two days, and is now vomiting. Anytime a dog has diarrhea for more than 24 hours, it's time to see the vet. In addition, because he's showing other signs such as vomiting, that makes it more important that he sees a vet. This can be an indication of whatever is causing his symptoms is getting worse. I would take him into a vet today to get this diagnosed and treated. Best of luck.

Oh poor Scout! Given that he had explosive diarrhea last night and is still having loose stools, I would have him seen by a vet today. Whenever a dog has diarrhea for more than 24 hours, a trip to the vet is recommended. This diarrhea could be caused by a GI illness, eating something rotten, intestinal parasite, or a foreign body. These causes can also lead to him vomiting. The vet can diagnose what is causing his diarrhea and vomiting, and can give him medication to treat it.

Hi! My Great Dane was just taken to the vet about two weeks ago to get caught up on his shots. He also had fleas up until a couple days ago and now he is having diarrhea in the house, which is something he NEVER does, and is vomiting not even 5 minut
I am concerned about this amount of vomiting and diarrhea. Since the vaccines were 2 weeks ago they are not likely the cause of the symptoms. I would withhold food (small amounts of water are ok) for 12-24 hours and see how he does. If the symptoms continue after fasting then I would recommend having Sam checked out by your vet. They may need to run blood work or take X-rays to determine what is going on. Your vet can also give Sam so medication to help stop the vomiting and some antibiotics to help clear up the diarrhea.

Hello my terrier mix has vomited at least 6 times and has had diarrhea twice all within the last 9 hours. He hasn't thrown up recently but he did just have a loose stool. His temperature was normal when checked a few hours ago. No blood in either vom
Poor Bear! You could withhold food for the day and then try some boiled chicken and white rice and see if that helps. If he starts vomiting again, the diarrhea does not resolve in the next day, or he becomes lethargic than he needs to be seen by your vet. Your vet can run lab work and take x-rays, if needed, to help diagnose and then prescribe medicine to help with the vomiting and diarrhea. Hope he feels better soon!

Hi my dog has been sick for the past three days with diarrhea and vomiting yellow liquid like its acid like once or twice a day but she has been needing to use the restroom a lot do you know if she is going to be okay please tell me.
Unfortunately, I can't tell you if things will be ok or not. Just like humans, pets can have vomiting and diarrhea for many many reasons. These could range from a bacterial infection to kidney failure or cancer. Any pets who has vomiting and diarrhea beyond 48 hours needs to be examined by the veterinarian. I recommend to Isabella examined by the veterinarian today so that you can figure out why she is so sick and so that she can receive appropriate treatment. It's best not to wait because continuous illness can lead to dehydration, electrolyte imbalances and many other worsening conditions. I hope she gets better quickly and please feel free to post any additional questions.

My dog has been sick for 2 days. She will drink water, but She wont eat dog food, but will eat chicken and rice but throw it up later. She has diarrhea also. Should i try the chicken and rice for a couple days and see if it helps?
I am very sorry to hear that Emma is experiencing these problems, I am sure it is very unsettling for you both. Unfortunately, with a history of vomiting and diarrhoea, and an inability to keep food down for 2 days, I advise you take Emma in to see her vet. There are a number of potentially very serious causes of such clinical signs, including pancreatistis and ingestion of a toxin or poison. Your vet will be able to perform a physical exam and run diagnostic tests such as bloodwork to determine the cause of Emma's vomiting and diarrhoea. In the meantime you can continue the boiled chicken breast and white rice diet and provide plenty of fresh water. I hope that answer was helpful and more importantly that Emma feels better soon. Alexa a shepard Lab mix has had diareah and vomiting for 4 days. She is 13
4 days is very long for a dog to have vomiting and diarrhea. I recommend that Alexa see a vet as soon as possible. Potential causes for her illness include dietary intolerance, dietary indiscretion, food allergy, intestinal parasites, GI blockage, gastroenteritis, bacterial or viral infection, IBD, pancreatitis, among others. Your vet may recommend abdominal x-rays, bloodwork, or an intestinal parasite screen to help diagnose her ailment and create an appropriate treatment plan.

If Bruno has had diarrhea and decrease appetite for 3 days I would recommend a visit to the vet. A young pup may have parasites, viral disease or a foreign body that can cause diarrhea. But at his age he can become debilitated quickly when sick so a vet visit at this point is probably a good idea. I hope he recovers quickly.

My dog is about nine months old. She has diarrhea, she does not eat any of her dog foods, and she threw up a couple of days ago. Should I be concerned?
Dogs with vomiting and diarrhea that are not improving within 24 hours should be seen by a veterinarian. Intestinal foreign body, intestinal parasites, and parvovirus are among the common causes in young dogs. I would encourage you to have her evaluated by your veterinarian as soon as possible. Hi there. Dogs can certainly get a minor upset stomach due to an infection or something they ate, but this should normally resolve within 24 hours. Since Brutus has been sick for three days now, I would definitely recommend having him seen, as this may be a more serious problem. He may have a GI problem such as pancreatitis or a foreign body in his intestines, a systemic illness like liver or kidney disease, or may have ingested something toxic. Your veterinarian can do blood work and x-rays if needed to help diagnose the problem and get him started on appropriate treatment.

Hi,my german shepherd puppy 4months ,have diarrhea and vomited 2 times,right now he's very passively and sleepy. We're giving him some pedialyte. The diarrhea are liquid without blood. What can I do?
Diarrhea and throwing up can have many causes. It is basically a problem with the stomach and intestines caused by a food over sensitivity, eating something that does not agree with the dog, intestinal parasites, bacterial infection, viral infection, the weather, food change, stress, etc.  I would fast Sam for 12 hours and then put him on bland food for two days, such as boiled white rice and boiled white boneless chicken meat, fed in small quantities over several feeds and then transition back to his regular food slowly over a few days. If this does not clear up the diarrhea or if the vomiting increases, or if he gets lethargic, he needs to see a veterinarian for an exam as there may be something more serious such as an infection going on.
