I found a tooth from my puppy. Is it a baby tooth or an adult one?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Miniature Schnauzer | Male | neutered | 8 months and 16 days old | 11.4 lbs

My mini schnauzer puppy is 8-1/2 months old and I thought had lost all of his baby teeth, but today while chewing on a nylabone I found this tooth on the floor. Does it appear to be a baby tooth or is it an adult tooth?

Hello. Yes, this is a deciduous (baby tooth). More specifically, it is a cap that was pushed off when the adult premolar erupted. No need to worry about this. It was just a little late coming off. Thanks for contacting Petco Pet Education Center, formerly Petcoach.
