Pet's info: Dog | Shih Tzu | Male | neutered | 9 years and 7 months old | 12 lbs
My Shih Tzu Romeo had HGE two weeks ago with diarrhea. He usually poops twice a day but been on low fat GI food by Royal Canin for past two weeks. He only has been pooping once a day since being on this diet. He hasn’t pooped this morning (today) like he usually does. Can low fat diet cause less poop? Is it normal for dog to skip a poop for day? He’s not straining or in pain. Thanks!

If he's eating less fiber/volume or has had a change in diet while healing, it can be normal to see a reduction (or increase) in stool size, volume, or frequency. As long as he seems to be going normally when he does go, and doesn't seem in distress, I would just keep an eye on him. If the stool becomes bloody, is frequently diarrhea, Romeo has a sore or tender abdomen, or he seems to be having other symptoms in addition, a recheck with your vet is best.
