What to do if my 9-month-old puppy isn't eating and is lethargic?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Hello my puppy is 9 months old and he hasn’t eaten anything today. He had a normal walk this morning, has pooped and peed multiple times, but is slightly lethargic.

That's not good that Milo hasn't eaten anything today! It definitely sounds like he's feeling a bit off, especially if he is also lethargic. I would try to tempt him to eat by offering him some boiled white meat chicken (no bones or skin) and white rice. If he refuses to eat that, vomits it, stops drinking water, starts vomiting water, and/or continues to be lethargic, you will need to take him into the vet first thing in the morning. Should he eat the chicken and rice, I would feed that to him tomorrow, then slowly add back in his normal diet. I hope this helps!
