My puppy has a skin lump. Could it be cancer, or is it benign?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Dogo Argentino | Female | spayed | 5 months and 5 days old | 40 lbs

Not sure what this could be, or if it needs removed by the vet. My concern is skin cancer but our vet is booked up until 2 weeks out so I wanted to get an opinion sooner than later.

Hi and thanks for your request. This could be due to a skin tumor (most likely benign called histiocytoma) or a smal inflammatory lump, possily due to an infection. a malignant skin cancer is highly unlikely given the fact that Nala is very young. Disinfection can be provided with saltwater used twice daily. This can wait two weeks for a vet's check up in my opinion.
