Pet's info: Dog | Border Collie | Female | spayed | 50 lbs
We just recently found a lump of some kind on our 8 year old border collie. It is on the inside of her right hind leg, right below the joint. It is pinkish/purple in color and slightly hard to the touch. What could it be? Any help would be appreciated!

Thank you for the picture of Oreo's lump, it's very helpful. This lump could be a cyst, hygroma, another type of benign tumor, or potentially a malignant tumor. Unfortunately I cannot make a diagnosis from a picture. Any suspicious lumps should be examined by the vet. The vet can perform a test called a fine needle aspirate on it. To do this, the vet sticks a small needle into the lump to get a sample of its cells, and examines the cells on a slide under a microscope. It's usually painless to the animal, and relatively quick to perform. Once the cause of the lump is diagnosed, the vet can discuss treatment options if needed. I would give her vet a call to make her an appointment. I hope this helps!
