Should I take my dog to the vet for a leg issue after surgery?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | West Siberian Laika | Female | spayed | 4 years and 9 months old | 41 lbs

My dog has had a previous back leg surgery. Today she is not listening to the sit command and is favouring the leg more. She is not limping and her energy is normal. She is struggling to sit normally and lie down, however. I am wondering if I should take her to the vet or let her rest/heal on its own. We are taking care of another dog so there has been a change in the environment and she has also had diarrhea this evening.

Poor Olive! Given that she has had a previous back leg surgery and is favoring that leg, I do think she should be checked out by a vet. She has a history of issues with the leg, and therefore any new issues with it should always be checked out by a vet just to be safe. I'd give her vet a call to make her an appointment. I hope this helps!
