My dog is vomiting but acting normal. ER vet or bland diet at home?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Cockapoo | Female | spayed | 4 years and 10 months old | 27 lbs

My dog has vomited 4 times since Saturday evening. I gave her boiled chicken to eat yesterday and she kept that down fine so she had a little kibble last night. She hasn't eaten anything since last night but she then threw up twice this morning. She is acting normal and not having any other problems. No blood or anything irregular in her vomit. My regular vet is booked. Am I okay to monitor her and feed her a bland diet or do you recommend taking her to an emergency vet?

I'm sorry to hear that Lana isn't feeling well! I'm glad that she's still acting normally, but it is a bit worrisome that she vomited twice today and has refused to eat. At this point, I would try to get on your regular vet's schedule in the next day or two if possible. If they're fully booked for the rest of the week, then you can try continuing the boiled chicken and rice bland diet at home for now. If Lana refuses to eat dinner tonight, becomes lethargic at any point, refuses to drink, or if the vomiting becomes more profuse, then I think an ER vet visit is in order. From what you've described, I think you can give her a little bit more time at home with the bland diet and monitoring before heading to an ER vet. I hope that she feels better soon!
