My dog ate a raw potato. Is it serious if she's not eating dinner?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Husky | Female | spayed | 6 years and 6 months old | 56 lbs

My dog ate 1 small raw potato about lunch time and now is not really interested in her dinner. Should I take her to the vet or just monitor her?

If Layla is clinically normal, you can consider monitoring her, especially since it has been many hours since she ingested the potato. It is possible that she will digest the potato or pass it. I would be concerned if she has any evidence of vomiting, nausea, or prolonged inappetence. These could be signs of an obstruction, so if they occur, she should be evaluated by a vet right away.
