Dog has a soft, painless groin lump. Should I wait for pet insurance?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | Goldendoodle | Female | spayed | 60 lbs

My dog(golden doodle/ age 3) has developed a golf ball sized lump in her groin area. It is soft, and there is no pain associated with it. She is not lethargic and no loss of appetite. I’m currently enrolled in an insurance plan for her. But the wait period ends on the 28th. Is it safe to wait that time period so that I can afford her care in an extreme case?

Unfortunately, without knowing what is going on, it is hard to say if it is safe to wait. It is possible the lump may be a hernia, mass, or abscess. When in doubt, I think it is best to have it evaluated by a vet, but you should use your discretion.
