My dog ate white fudge. Should I be worried or go to the vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Dog | German Shepherd | Male | unneutered | 3 months and 4 days old | 18 lbs

My dog ate a 2 inch square of white fudge about 2 hours and I don’t know if I should take him to the vet or not. He seems to be ok but he’s only pooped once today.

The fudge may cause some gastrointestinal upset so monitor him for any vomiting and diarrhea. You could feed a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice if you notice any GI signs. If he experiences any lethargy or persistent vomiting and diarrhea, then he should be examined by your vet.

This tells me Fudge is sick. She could have a severe GI illness, may have eaten something rotten, could have a foreign body, pancreatitis, liver disease, kidney disease, a pyometra, or even cancer causing this. Given her age and the potential for a serious cause of this symptom, you need to take her into a vet now.
