My cat has brown dots in one ear. Is it wax or something serious?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Persian | Female | spayed | 11 years and 5 months old | 2.5 lbs

Hello, I was cleaning my cats ear 4 days ago and I noticed the right side had a lot of brown dots I cleaned it and seems like it is back today not as much but like it is way too much for 4 days and onky that ine side of the ear. She eat and drinks and just as active and uses the litter regularly, no comolains. She also uses barvecto for flea prevention the 2 months dose. Should I be worried?

Wax accumulation is quite common and I would not be overly concerned without any pain, loss of appetite or activity. I would recommend cleansing with a cat safe, alcohol free ear cleanser daily for one week then once to twice weekly for 3-4weeks. A vet check and ear exam would be recommended to rule out any structural issues or infections if symptoms change or persist beyond a couple of weeks
