My cat's spay incision looks inflamed 9 days post-op. Is it normal?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | American Shorthair | Female | spayed | 4 lbs

We got Noodle spayed 9 days ago and her incision site looks like this. Is this normal or something I should be concerned about? She doesn’t mess with her surgery site, so we’re not sure where this came from or if if she needs to go to the vet to get stitched up again. She’s not showing any signs of being in pain or uncomfortable. She’s still very playful and loving.

Poor Noodle. That does not look normal. Her incision is very inflamed and I am worried that the site may be infected or opening up. I would take her to a veterinarian as they may need to prescribe a course of antibiotics. Make sure she continues to wear her cone at all times.
