My dog shows pregnancy signs after silent heat. Is she pregnant?

Pet's info: Dog | Mixed Breed Large (61lb +) | Female | unspayed | 10 months and 27 days old | 70 lbs

My dog had a silent heat a few weeks ago and we had no idea and took her to my moms house with an intact male, they were only on top of each other for a few seconds (maybe 10 sec) and it has been 20 days since that incident. My dog has been eating more, carrying around her bed and blanket, and her teats are slowly enlarging and producing a clear liquid when squeezed but she’s acting normal otherwise. Could she be pregnant? my vet doesn’t offer blood work and can’t do an ultrasound until day 40

From your description, it sounds like Vegas could be pregnant but I cannot say for sure without seeing her in person. You could check to see if there are other vets in your area that offer blood work to see if she is pregnant or not. Another option is to have her spayed. This will terminate any pregnancy and prevent her from ever getting pregnant again. I hope this helps.

Thanks for using Boop by Petco! It is a possibility but dogs can also have fake pregnancies- all the signs of a pregnancy but with no fetuses. I recommend taking her to a vet for an exam. They can take an X-ray 45 days after mating or look sooner with an ultrasound. Good luck and kisses to Luna!

Since your dog was recently in heat and is now showing signs of illness I would recommend having her checked out by your veterinarian as soon as possible. She may be pregnant, having another false pregnancy, or may have a life-threatening infection in her uterus called pyometra. It's very abnormal, it's either because of another heat cycle which will mean she is not pregnant or because the pregnancy was terminated prematurely. an ultrasound at your vet's can shed some light on this.

It could be possible that Cheeky is pregnant if she mated with your male dog when she was in heat, but without seeing her in person, there's no way I can say for certain. I would take her into a vet today who can do x-rays to confirm if she is pregnant or not. Best of luck, I hope this helps.

The only way to know for sure Zyra is pregnant is have her seen by a vet in another couple of weeks for x-rays and a blood test looking for the hormone relaxin to confirm that she is pregnant. It is possible that she may not get pregnant off five stud sessions if she wasn't mated at the right time in her heat, but hopefully she is pregnant. It's lovely you want to be a vet! The best advice I can give you is to study really hard and get lots of animal experience in a vet's office. It's not an easy road to become a vet, it's a lot of time and hard work, but if you apply yourself and work for it, it can happen :-)

I would have your vet take a look at her to see where the blood is coming from. The urethra is also very closely associated with the vagina so she could be leaking blood from her bladder. She could also be suffering from a serious infection called a pyometra which needs to be addressed ASAP. Your vet will also be able to tell if she is/was pregnant. There isn’t much you can do at home. If she is bleeding, further diagnostics need to be done. She likely needs some meds and additional treatment. I hope this helps.

I would highly recommend an examination by your veterinarian. She could have an intestinal obstruction, or even an infection of the uterus called a pyometra. They can be life threatening. An x-ray will likely be recommended to help with the diagnosis, and possibly blood work as well. Good luck- I really hope that she improves soon.

It sounds like Sophie is in heat for the first time, which causes the bleeding from the vagina. Due to the fact you have an unneutered male in the house and she has already mated, it is likely she will become pregnant. If you don't want puppies, you can see if the vet will spay her. That will terminate any pregnancy, and keep her from getting pregnant in the future. I'd also recommend having your male neutered.

It does sound like from your description that Shiloh could be pregnant again. The best way to confirm this is to take her into the vet for an exam. If you have an idea of when she was mated, then the vet can run tests to get a closer approximation of how far along she is in the pregnancy. For example, a blood test looking for the hormone relaxin can be done starting at 22 days gestation. If she is further along in the pregnancy, then x-rays and an ultrasound can be done. Given her age, I would start saving now for the chance she may need a c-section. That's because older dogs can have more difficulties giving birth due to age, and it's best to be prepared for that now both financially and emotionally. I would also recommend getting her spayed after this litter. It's never recommended to breed dogs older than 6-7 years of age, and spaying her would prevent future litters from happening, as well as eliminating the possibility of a pyometra (a life threatening infection of the ute
