My bird's beak has a hole from a toy. Will it heal or needs a vet?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Bird | Conure | Male | unneutered | 4 months and 14 days old

My bird has a hole in his beak. I think he got it from playing with his toy and it kept digging in his beak. It doesn’t seem like hes in any pain. He’s still eating and acting how he normally does. Im just worried about the hole. If it’ll heal or what can i do?

Thanks for reaching out about Romeo and including photos. The concern would be if the hole penetrates into the sublingual space and sets up an infection. As the beak grows, the hole should move rostrally and disappear (could take months). A veterinary visit is recommended to assess and start preventative antibiotics. Good luck.
