Why is my senior cat drinking more, losing weight, and vomiting?

Updated On September 23rd, 2025

Pet's info: Cat | Korat | Male | neutered | 13 years and 2 months old | 11 lbs

Hello- my 13 year old grey DSH cat has been drinking a little more frequently, has lost his spare weight, and vomits water sometimes (perhaps because we forgot to give hair ball treats). I have been testing his urine with these strips and this is the most recent result. The way I read it everything is in range except the urine is diluted, has a trace amount of protein in his urine and also very elevated leukocytes. He has a medium sized cavity in his molar. Please advise, Thank you, -K

It sounds like Dyllan may have a urinary tract infection or a problem with his bladder if his urine is dilute. I worry about kidney disease especially if he is having vomiting and weight loss. I would have him seen by a veterinarian for bloodwork and a urinalysis + culture to make sure there isn't something significant going on.
