My foxhound has chin scabs and licks paws. Could it be allergies?

Good morning. 4 year old American Fox hound. Noticed lesions on his chin. He has been licking his paws a lot for about 2 weeks. What could it be and is there otc treatment? Pet's info: Dog | American Foxhound | Male | neutered | 70 lbs

Hello, This looks like it could be the start of a deeper skin infection given the size and number of scabs on his chin. Woods may have environmental or food allergies that contribute to this, and may benefit from a prescription diet or medications. I'd recommend an appointment with his veterinarian. In the meantime, you can use an epsom salt water solution to gently clean the affected itchy areas.
